Why Compare Calling Cards?
You should always compare different phone cards before purchasing one. Don't just purchase the phone card with the cheapest rate per minute! Often times, cheap calling cards
have other fees associated with them, in addition to the per minute rate that's advertised.
That is why you should compare phone cards on the following features:
- Per Minute Rate
- Connection Fees
- Maintenance Fees
- Minutes Rounding
- Pay Phone Surcharge
- Expiration Date
Here's an example of a site that I've purchased phone cards from that allows you to compare all of these features. By doing so, you are in a much better position to make an informed purchase and get the best card for you.
Which Phone Card Should I Buy?
That depends on what you are using the phone card for. For example, if you are purchasing an international calling card because you will be travelling, then cards with lower per minute rates will be better even though they may have maintenance fees.
In this case, it doesn't matter if you pay a small maintenance fee every two weeks because you plan on using the whole card within a very short period of time.
On the other hand, if you want a domestic phone card to carry around in your purse or wallet for emergencies, or you want an international card because you have loved ones overseas, then you should look at cards with a higher per minute rate that don't have any maintenance fees.
Because you will have the card for a much longer time than if you were just travelling for a short while, you want to make sure that you aren't paying fees every week or month.
The same thing applies to the card's expiration date. If you will be using the card for a very short period of time, then expiration date isn't going to be a major factor in your purchasing decision.
On the other hand, if you plan on having the card for over six months you should make sure the card won't expire before you get to use all of your minutes.
